Tower T14014

Both Sides Now

Tired of walking by those delectable roasted chickens in the supermarket and envying the crispy meat since your oven doesn’t quite manage that? Well, you can actually easily get that kind of roast at home if you use a tabletop rotisserie oven. For the best quality, we recommend the Tower T14014 Mini.

Though it might look like a microwave at first glance, this sleek black appliance is a full-blown oven with 2000 W of power. More than that, it has two hotplates with 1000 W and 600 W of power each. They can be used for roasting, frying, and quickly heating up meals as well.

But the addition of hotplates isn’t just a question of utility, it’s also a big help in keeping the meat roasted evenly. Since you can control each of the 4 heating elements and 2 hotplates separately, you can quickly cook the meat through in spots that might have been left underdone otherwise. This will help keep your meals perfect as can be with a crispy finish on the skin.

Just make sure not to get too giddy as you rush to take out the meal because the glass door of the Tower T14014 Mini gets quite hot in the operation. Make sure you’re wearing a potholder or at least grab the handle through a towel or something similar lest you burn yourself on the heated-up glass.

Review of Tower T14014 Mini Oven with Double Hotplates and Rotisserie

More Than Enough

But it’s not enough to simply leave all heating elements in the oven on full blast if you want to make truly delicious meals using the Tower T14014 Mini. Thankfully, the oven gives you full control, offering 3 oven function, 3 hot plate settings, and the chance to adjust the temperature in a wide range. Specifically, you can set it at any level between 100°C and 230°C, more than enough variety to make all kinds of dishes. You can adjust the cooking timer, the temperature, and which parts of the oven are on by simply turning one of the three knobs on the oven’s body.

Plus, you should definitely take advantage of the accessories that come with the Tower T14014 Mini to expand your cooking skills. Things like the baking tray for pizza and pastries, a wire rack, and a rotisserie fork will all come in handy sooner or later as you create tasty pastries or roast chickens or turkeys whole. The latter is completely possible, by the way, thanks to the 42 L capacity of the oven. You could squeeze a pretty fat bird in there and, in an hour or so, end up with enough meat for a feast.

So if you’re planning on serving up versatile dishes for a whole family (and maybe even some friends), this 42 L oven from Tower will be of immense help. It’s easy to control, has many modes of operation, and enough power and space to roast a chicken whole. Definitely a must-have for big households.

JML 14 Pc Set

All Hail Halogen

Want something with the compact and elegant design of a pressure cooker but with the capability to roast and fry and pretty much everything but the kitchen sink? Well, rotisserie ovens are a good choice here but you could get ambitious and ask for even more. For example, could we find one that matches the description and is also affordable and economical? You betcha and it’s right here - the JML 14 PC Set Deluxe.

This model uses a halogen lamp (unusual, right?) to cook food. Now, you might not know exactly what it means but the specialists have helpfully specified that this makes the JML oven 46% faster at roasting meat than a convection model. A priceless feature for cases where you have guests coming over soon and need to stir up a feast or need to head to work but don’t have even a bite in your fridge. And that’s not all as halogen is also more energy-efficient, which means your electricity bills won’t be staggering even if you cook every single day.

Now, the oven is designed specifically to keep the heat and the light from the halogen lamp in, which means your view of the food will be limited. It’s not much of a problem since you can control how long the dish is cooked and at what temperature but it’s always nice to see the cooking process with juices running off of the meat.

Review of JML 14 Pc Set Deluxe Halogen Cooking With Rotisserie Function

Accessories Aplenty

We can definitely call the JML 14 PC Set Deluxe a perfect choice for bachelors and bachelorettes living alone that want to expand their cooking options. Sure, the 11.37 L capacity means you won’t be cooking several dishes at a time or serving up whole geese but a chicken or a turkey can fit easily into the oven. As for the versatility, well, the device comes with plenty of accessories to make cooking new dishes easier.

For example, you get an air-frying basket and tongs so you can make crispy and non-fatty fries in the comfort of your home. Alternatively, you could do a kind of stir-fry using two of the pans that you get with the oven. Plus, if the pieces of meat aren’t too big, you can roast two at once using the racks, making it easier to quickly conjure up a meal for two if you have a date coming over.

Cooking is also pretty easy thanks to the aforementioned control. You can adjust the timer and temperature as well as the rotation of the dish. That way you can quickly finish off the roast if one side of the dish is undercooked. Plus, you also control the fan speed to help the smell dissipate faster or, conversely, let it linger around to get your appetite going.

All things considered, we simply can’t see any serious reasons why someone who lives alone and wants good dishes would dislike the JML 14 PC Set Deluxe. Sure, it’s not intended for large families but those who want to nosh on tasty food that takes little time and effort to cook should snag this model right away.

Quest 34020

Go High

Isn’t it annoying how most portable ovens nowadays are these stainless steel monstrosities taking up half of your countertop and whirring like a truck while they cook? If you said yes, you’ll be happy to hear about the Quest 34020.

Not only is this model vertical, thus taking up less space than horizontal ones by design, it’s also quite compact for a vertical one as is. At just 45 x 27 x 33 cm, you can easily fit it onto your kitchen table and slide under the wall-hanging cabinets. Now, you might think that this kind of size makes it less than capacious but the Quest 34020 easily fits up to 21 L. This means a whole chicken or turkey can be stuffed in there along with some potatoes or vegetables so you can cook a whole roast at once.

And you don’t have to restrict yourself to roasting whole birds only as the 7 kebab skewers that come with the oven will help make small kebabs using meat and vegetables. Don’t worry about having to wipe up the juices from the food either as the drip tray will be picking up any debris and excess fat. This is most effective thanks to the vertical orientation of the oven as all juice rolls straight down to the tray. Yet another benefit of the compact Quest 34020 that’s simply not available in the horizontal competitors.

Review of Quest 34020 Vertical Rotisserie Grill with Timer

Keeps It Simple

Thanks to the transparent body of the Quest 34020, you can watch as the food is being cooked and not only get an appetite but also see how much longer the meat needs before completion. And since the cooking wouldn’t be very effective if the dish stayed still, getting only one side roasted, the oven offers a practical solution. The skewers are inserted into special grooves that hold them and spin 360 degrees so the food gets an even roast on all sides.

Sadly, we did feel like the lack of temperature controls restricted the choice of dishes one can make with this model since you can only determine the cooking time. Some dishes are better off being cooked longer but on low temperature which this oven doesn’t offer. So those that are getting into slow-cooking might want to get an additional appliance for that purpose.

Other than that, there’s very little to dislike about the Quest 34020. If you want good roasts done quick, this vertical oven is a compact and efficient solution. It can hold a lot of food, makes maintenance easy thanks to a well-placed drip tray, and comes with 7 skewers so you can cook different meal ingredients all at once. While it’s not a high-cuisine option, it’s more than serviceable for daily food making.

Quest 35370

Keep Those Bills Low

Tired of slaving away at the stove for hours only to get food that tastes alright but looks nothing like the stuff you see in restaurants? Well, there’s a solution to that and we believe it’s an important one because we take food in with our eyes first and foremost. So, without further ado, let’s take a close look at the Quest 35370 and why its cooking is so delectable.

Right away, as you set this wide horizontal oven on your kitchen counter, we suggest you turn on the convection mode. This will not only speed up the cooking process but also ensure that any meat you cook gets this golden crisp on all sides without any char. No longer do you have to rub butter into the chicken, making it less-than-diet-friendly, or have to deal with burnt spots that appear when you try to do a nice crisp all over. Instead, the oven just rotates the dish, browning it and using all of its 1600 W of power to cook your meal to perfection.

Now, you might be thinking “that sounds like it’d wreak havoc on my electricity bills” and we’re happy to report that it’s not the case. Thanks to the A mark in energy efficiency, you can rest assured that the Quest 35370 will consume less energy than most similar ovens without losing anything in terms of power.

Review of Quest 35370 Benross Convection Rotisserie Oven

No Hit to Your Budget

Piling onto the aforementioned advantages, we can’t “afford” to mention one small thing. That is the price, which is, indeed, as low as it could reasonably be and makes this an affordable appliance. It’s a huge bargain considering the wealth of accessories that come with the oven and the numerous control options, including a full temperature range. Those who want to do more than just roast meat will be glad to use the baking tray and the hotplates on top of the stove to bake pastries and fry up some dishes to create a three-course dinner in half the time it’d usually take.

We do admit that a price like that demands some concessions and the oven is a bit shoddy in some places. For one, the rotisserie bar takes some force to insert but you have to be careful not to damage anything or drop the meat off of it in the process. It’s a mild annoyance but one that’s worth noting. Other than that and a design that might not be to everyone’s liking, we can’t find many (or any, really) faults in the Quest 35370.

With all that said, you can clearly see how and why this model deserves one of the top spots in our lineup. It combines power, efficiency, and low price to create a budget-friendly model that wouldn’t be out of place in a professional kitchen.

Elitezotec Vertical

No-fuss Indoor Broiling

If you’ve ever tasted a juicy Turkish kebab or a broiled chicken cooked on the open flame, you won’t forget those authentic flavours of roasted meat and chances are great that you’ll want to be able to cook the same at home. Sounds like you? If so, turn your eyes to an electric rotisserie oven from Elitezotec.

It’s yet another vertical oven with a smaller footprint that won’t eat up much space on the countertop surface. So, it will fit pretty much any kitchen. At the same time, it features a 21L capacity and can easily accommodate a whole chicken, pork knuckle or ribs, and 7 skewers with shashlik, kebab, seafood, vegetables, and more. If you are a fan of lavash wraps stuffed with spicy roasted meat, the shaft is also suitable for grilling a pile of chicken breasts or tenderized pork and beef chops.

A vertical heating element has the power of 1500 watts. So, it heats up in an instant and delivers consistently high heat throughout the whole cooking process. Besides, it is installed against a reflective surface that ensures quick, efficient, and more even heat distribution. Thus, a whole chicken will be roasted to a crispy golden crust in less than an hour while shrimps will be grilled in mere minutes. And to achieve even roasting from all sides, the shaft with the plates for skewers rotates 360 degrees.

The only niggle we have about this model is the lack of temperature control. Heating up to the preset cooking temperature, the Elitezotec is not the best options for slow cooking or baking where a variable temperature is a must. However, when it comes to roasting or grilling, this oven does its job really well. And once you adjust perfect cooking times for different dishes, you’ll be amazed by the taste of your roasts.

Review of Elitezotec Vertical Electric Rotating Rotisserie Oven

No-fuss Cleaning

Commonly, cleaning is an issue for this type of cookers since messy oil splashes and grease are hard to remove. Yet, it won’t be a problem with the Elizotec rotisserie. Though the meat and poultry will exude fat while roasting, it won’t be splattered everywhere. Thanks to a vertical oven design, the fat and juices will flow down and will be collected into the drip tray. Besides, the drip tray and other removable steel components are dishwasher safe. So, cleaning will be a breeze, with no need to scrub and rub. And to clean the unit body, it is enough to wipe it with a damp cloth.

Summing up, if you are a fan of flavourful grilled meats and want to be able to cook your favourite roasts in the comfort of your own kitchen, you can’t go wrong with the Elitezotec electric rotisserie oven. It will help you cook pretty simple, yet, tasty and nutritious treats without a hassle.

What Is a Rotisserie Oven?

A rotisserie oven is an efficient and user-friendly appliance used for at-home cooking healthy and delicious poultry and meat. Usually, a rotisserie oven comes with one or two spits for roasting a whole chicken or any other poultry. So, what's the secret of that amazing fragrance and taste of the chicken pieces cooked in this oven? They've been achieved due to the even juice distribution along the entire chicken through its slow turning around in the oven. The beauty of rotisserie ovens is that they can be used for roasting not only poultry but any other meat, seafood, and vegetables. They feature a wide set of additional accessories and so, can expand your cooking options by times. So, look out and find the model to suit your daily needs!

To cook a healthy and delicious family breakfast, you may want to acquire one of these fantastic juicers that are on the peak of popularity in the market, as well as a toaster maker for frying mouth-watering toasts with marmalade or honey.

What Features to Compare

Type

Selecting a chicken rotisserie oven, first of all, you should consider what kind of appliance you need. There are two main types of ovens - horizontal and vertical. Horizontal ovens may look somewhat bulky, but, as a rule, they are much more capacious and can accommodate bigger poultry or a chunk of meat. Vertical rotisserie ovens are a bit smaller due to their prolongated shape and so, they fit best smaller chickens (or turkeys). Still, both ovens can do a great job, roasting meat to the doneness degree you like the most, enveloping it in a yummy golden-brown crust.

Usability

The second feature you should keep in mind while selecting an oven is its functionality. Consider cooking modes and an adjustable timer to preset the desired cooking time. An audio beep signal and an auto-off feature allow for the most comfortable and safe use of the oven, informing you of the cooking process and turning the device off in case of improper use. Some sophisticated models boast a convection function which provides hot air circulation and cuts down greatly on the pre-heating time. Ovens with a built-in thermostat will suit those users who'd like to adjust the temperature manually, varying it in a wide range. Go for a powerful oven with at least 1,000-Watt yield to be able to cook not only easy but quickly as well. With a performing rotisserie oven, cooking for a big family will be a breeze. Or you can opt for a less-powerful but portable oven and use it on a patio or in the backyard throwing fantastic BBQ parties for one and all.

Extras

Depending on the included accessories, a rotisserie oven can be used for cooking a variety of dishes. Most of them are equipped with a spit and a drip tray to collect excess fat running out of meat. A baking pan and oven rack(s) allow baking pizza, toasts, and smaller pieces of meat. The fans of shish kabob will appreciate having an oven with skewers. Some rotisserie ovens can be supplied with heat-resistant gloves to enable a more secure way of extracting cooked food out of the hot unit. If they aren't, you can always buy some separately. A recipe book is another bonus you can find along with some ovens.

Did you know?

Origin of the Word

Have you ever wondered when the word “rotisserie” first appeared and why it's used in its current context? Even though the ovens we use today are a relatively new invention, the term we’re looking at originated sometime around 1450 in France. Back then, in the medieval times, meat was cooked on the spit, the rotisseries itself. A servant turned the metal skewer slowly to guarantee that the food would be roasted evenly.

Of course, food has always been loved all around the world and it didn’t take long for mechanical spits to be created. They were made using either steam, clockworks, or even animals. With this more reliable appliance, the method became even more popular despite the advance of new techniques and recipes.

Then, as the twentieth century was about to come, Ron Popeil invented an electric home rotisserie oven and everyone received access to delicious rotisserie chicken and turkey. No servants, steam engines, or fire pits were required!

Why Not Just Buy Chicken in a Supermarket?

Whenever you go to big chain supermarkets, you are likely to see a department where big, juicy, and perfect-looking roasted chickens are sold. And, if you’ve ever looked at the prices, they seem to be quite low, shockingly low for a whole roasted chicken! So, you may be wondering why these ready-to-go foods are so cheap and why I need to buy an oven and spend time cooking a whole chicken if I can get one in a supermarket? Well, some studies have been done and it seems like the attractive prices may be not as wonderful as they seem.

People tend to get suspicious when something seems too good to be true. Some say that the birds you see on display are those that were about to expire and go beyond their “sell-by” date. Supposedly, the shops just take this unsellable poultry, cook it, and prop it up for customers to buy as a quick dinner replacement. Others suppose that the roasted chicken and turkey are so-called “loss leaders”. That’s a product that ultimately costs the store itself some money but brings in enough customers to recoup the losses and earn much more than it loses. But these two theories aren’t exactly correct. What’s the right reason for the alluring prices for the juicy meat?

Why Is Store Chicken So Cheap?

Well, this may sound strange but the already-cooked chicken isn’t actually cheaper than the raw meat. Sure, if you take three random birds from the deli and three random ones from the meat section, the deli ones will cost less, because the cost is calculated per each chicken. However, it actually should be calculated per pound and, when you do it properly, raw meat is usually far less expensive. You see, the rotisserie products are plumper and they look delicious, but they are hollowed out and they lose a lot of the fat and juice in the process, which might make them healthier, but it cuts into their weight. So in the end, you’ll be paying more for the same product.
